Bail Agreed Upon In Jeff Palmer
Case

The case of the negro Jeff Palmer,
charged with assault to murder Savas Xydias, was called before Judge Frazier on
examining trial. The defendant waived examination, however, and his bond was
agreed upon at one thousand dollars between the attorney for the state and the
defendant. The bond was made and Jeff released from jail.
In the matter of the examining trial ill the case of
Chatman Palmer, the same was postponed until Monday April 11th to await the
result of the wound. The postponement was asked by the state's attorney who said
that it was the hope of the state that Savas Xydias would be able to appear in
court and testify by that time.
The charge of assault to murder against Matt Slater was
dismissed and a charge of assaul and battery filed against him.
