MATTHEWS ACQUITTED
The jury in the John
Matthews case, brought in a verdict of not guilty, after being out only a short
time.
Matthews was charged with being an
accomplice to the murder of Alf Duty. The case was submitted without
argument at the suggestion of the defendants attorneys, and the case was given
to the jury at 10 o'clock.
The trial of Lawson as principal is set for
August 14.
