MARLIN LOST OUT.
-----
TEMPLE TEAM DID THE "DIRTY"
WORK.
-----
A Score of Seventeen to Eight.
-----
Marlin lost the game with Temple at the
park yesterday afternoon but it was not a defeat that the winner should feel
disposed to crow over, as there were very few earned runs made on either side.
Both teams played bad ball, and if Marlin had played as good ball as she
generally does the scrore would have been very different. For the first
two innings it looked as if the game was going to be a close one but between
errors and bits the score gradually climbed up.
It was nice practice for both teams and the
onlookers enjoyed it.
The best game of the series will be
tomorrow, it being the last.
The boys all line up well and it will be
the hottest contested game of the series. The boys had an off day
yesterday but they will be alright for tomorrow's game and those who wish to see
a good game come out at 4:30 to the park tomorrow.
NOTES
The two
runs knocked were divided, Taylor getting one and Statum the other, but Taylor's
counted for nothing on account of the negligence of the score keepers who called
him to the bat out of order.
Jones certainly pitched a nice game of ball
and it was through no fault of his that the game was lost. If all the team
had played the game as well as Jones and given him proper support the score
would have been very different.
The boys just had a little hard luck but
they play nice ball.
Lenier caught a nice game yesterday, not
letting a man go on passed balls.
