LIST OF ATTRACTIONS.
-----
Of the Grand Opera House During the
Season.
Manager John G. Oltorf of
the Grand Opera House has given out the following list of attractions for the
coming season, and it will be observed that there are some of America's noted
players included in the list.
The opening date will be about October lst,
with a first class one night attraction, to be followed by: "Pickings from
Puck," with Kathryne Linyard and Williard Simms in prominen: (sic) roles, a play
full of music and mirth, just having made a phenomenal hit at the Great Northern
, Chicago; a new Star in Texas, Sam Morris in the "Peddlers Claim," a fine play
and company; the originals, "Murry and Mack" in their new play, "A Night
on Broadway;"Jules Walters' new play, "Just Struck Town;" the Big Lyceum Theatre
(New York) success, which ran over a year, "The Girl and the Judge;"
Ewing-Taylor Co. for a week, with new plays and new scenery;Hoyt's Everlasting
Success, "A Stranger in New York," also Hoyt's "Trip to Chinatown," both
excellent attractions; the successful "Graw Opera Co. Matinee & Night."
carrying 40 people and a car of scenery, followed by the original "Brown's In
Town;" The "Black Vipers," a good play and company; Lyman Twin Brothers,
"A Merry Chase;" "Strathmore" a dramitazation of Quidas' famous novel by
same name: "Irish Artocrat" a fun provoker; Chas. B. Hanford in Shakespeare's
"Taming of Shrew," supported by high class artists;
Hoyt's popular "Comedy Co" for three nights;"Thelma" from a novel same name;
"The Man from Mexico" a sure laugh maker; that clever little play"Camille" with
the great emotional actress, Courtney Morgan, in leading role; the "Strange
Adventures of of (sic) Amos Skeeter;" a play making a popular hit;the only
original Lewis Morrison in his great production of "Faust," carrying a carload
of scenery and whose electrical effects are worth the price of admission; that
pastoral play with W. B. Patton in the leading role, "The Minister's Son," (and
a model one) a play no one can object to, no matter how religiously inclined;
"Black Patti Troubadours; a "Wise Member;" "Sam Jack's Burlesque
Co;" "Brenran-Sale Co;" that well-known actress Rose Coghlan, matinee and night;
Wm. H. Crane's big success, "David Haram," "Katie Emmett in From East to West,"
a popular star and good play; the greatest comedy, "Pennsylvania;" the old play,
"At Valley Forge," and a good one; "Peck's Bad Boy," and others to be filled in
later, will make a fine selection of attractions and one that the public should
be proud of and support liberally. In ministrels, we will have the
originals "Georgia Minstrels," the well known "Al G. Field's Greater
Ministrels," and "Who-What-When-White Ministrels" with 50 people and two
palace cars. A nice Lyceum coarse has also been added for the
pleasure of the non-theatre going public and includes Ex-Governor Bob Taylor,
Hon Henry Watterson, Rev. Sam P. Jones, Gen. J. B. Gordon, the "Swiss Bell
Ringers" and "Montauk Ladies Quartette." Season tickets will be sold for
the six attractions of the Lyceum course at a very low rate. Mr. Oltorf
deserves good credit for the list of attractions he has secured. Some of
which are right up to top, and all of which are good--much better than the
average town of our size gets. It remains to be seen what support he is
going to receive--we hope liberally.
