A Boy From Minerals Wells Fell
From A Freight Train and May Die.
-----
Ernest Rice, a boy 13
years old, was run over by a Katy train Sunday afternoon and both of his legs
were crushed. He with another bo was on a freight train and when the train
was crossing the H. & T. C. crossing in East Waco the Rice boy fell from the
train with the result above stated. One of the legs was crushed just above
the knee and the other below.
The boy is in critical condition and it is
feared that he will not live. He was picked up by the train crew and taken to a
nearby house and a physician summoned. Everything possible was done for
the boy and while may recover the chances are against him.
The boy's is in Mineral Wells and it is
thought that he and the other boy with him were running away. His chum's
name could not be obtained as he left when the Rice boy fell. He has a
mother who is a widow and she has been notified of her son's
accident--Times-Herald.
