JOHN GAINES
CHARGED WITH THEFT.
John Gaines, colored,
was taken into custody Monday by City Marshal Coleman on a charge of theft.
The act of theft constituted in John taking from the person of Blackman Miles an
I. & G. N. pay check amounting to $34.10 while the latter slept the sleep of the
innocent. John went to Geo. McWilliams and secured $14.25 and returned fro
the other later and got arrested. John was arraigned before his honor,
Judge Frazier on an examining trial and his bond was fixed at $300 in default of
which he went to jail.
