At the hour of going to press there was no new developments in the John Roan
case.
As has been published, by this paper the
Governor granted Roan a second respite of ten days just two and a half hours
before the time set for his execution and after John had donned the gallows
clothing. The prisoner was carried to Waco by Sheriff Carlton soon after
the notice of the respite came and John has been there ever since.
The ten days respite expires Saturday at
noon and unless the governor interferes further John will hang between the hours
of 12 and 2 on that day.
The death warrant is already in the hands
of the sheriff and the immediate future now looks dark for John.
