Grand Jury Report.
The Grand Jury adjourned
today for the term. Their report appears below as follows:
Marlin, Texas Aug. 6 1902.--
To Hon. S. R. Scott District Judge. We your grand jury empannelled for the
July term of the Honorable District Court of Falls county, beg to make this our
final report and beg to be finally discharged. We have carefully examined
all matters that have been brought to our attention, and have found sixty five
true bills, thirty two felonies and thirty three misdemeanors; books and reports
of officials that have been brought in we have examined and found correct, to
the best of our knowledge and belief; we have visited the county jail and regret
to report that we have found same in a very unsatisfactory condition as regards
to cleanliness and would strongly recommend that this will be looked into and
corrected by the proper authorities. There is also complaint among the
prisoners of an insufficient water supply especially for bathing purposes, and
we would recommend that the cistern in the rear of the jail be elevated so as to
furnish at all times an adequate supply of water. We would also recommend
that the court house janitor be instructed to look more carefully after his work
which is being grossly neglected.
To the officers of the court we desire to
return thanks for their able asistance and uniform courtesies during our
deliberations. Respectfully submitted.
H. Potthoff.
Foreman.
