KILLED OVER A GAMBLING DISPUTE.
Dallas,
Tex., Oct. 1.--"Swell" Jarrett and Pat Mangus were shot and killed in a
restaurant at Bowie, Texas, this morning.
The shooting was brought on over a gambling
dispute. Luther Raines, son of the sheriff of Montague county, who was a
third party to the affray, was uninjured. He left the place hastily and
has not been located.
The killing caused the greatest excitement
in the little city of Bowie.
