A FINE EXHIBITION.
-----
The Balloon Ascension Was Perfect.
-----
Sergt. J. E. Baldwin electrified thousands of people Saturday afternoon with a
thrilling balloon ascension and parachute leap. The exhibition was a
perfect success in every respect.
The ascension was made from the vacant lot
adjoining the Fannin House and the streets were a mass of surging humanity.
Two white rabbits were taken up on small parachutes and cut loose at an altitute
of several hundred feet. The representation of the snow storm was all that
was expected and the line of trapeze acts were very gracefully performed. The
explosions of the bombs at a dizzy height were heard miles away.
It was quite an entertaining event for the
thousands who witnessed it.
