A STREET FIGHT.
A lively fight took place about 6 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the street
opposite Theo Czirr's.
It came about when Constable M. A.
Daugherty of precinct No. 2 started to arrest Charley Denson, colored, for whom
he held a warrant.
When Charles was accosted the officer was
promptly knocked down. Others as promptly came to his rescue and several
negroes received punches in the head. At one stage of the fracas an
elongated revolver was flourished but Policeman Cooley came in and caught the
gun in time to prevent it being fired.
A number of arrests were made.
