The second game between the fats and the leans was pulled off at Reed park
Thursday and there can be no doubt as to the result--the victory was a decisive
one for the leans, though the fate 'gave them a run for their money."
There were a number of causes for the
defeat of the fatties, prominent among them were the "twirls" handed them by
Nettles, pitcher for the leans.
The game was introduced by a sensational
foot race between H. C. Crawford for the fats and J. C. Fountain for the leans.
The race was easy.
The game was called at 5:30 by Umpire
McKewen and both teams got right down to work. Many new features were
introduced, among them a champion right fielder on the lean side wiht parasol
attachments.
The fats did their "level best" but they
were simply up against it and their banner of red trailed in the dust, while the
banner of blue proudly carressed the breezes that blew over the diamond.
The ladies realized about $50 from the
game, after paying expenses.
