ELECTRIC BOLT THROUGH FOOT.
During
the progress of a severe electrical storm at Temple John Gordon, a dairyman and
farmer, living two miles west of town, sought refuge with his two sons in a
barn. Lightning struck the barn, the bolt passing through Gordon's foot,
making an ugly wound and shocking him severly. All three of the occupants
were badly stunned and unable to move. The barn was set on fire by the
bolt and entirely consumed. Before the inmates could recover sufficiently
to get outside, they were badly burned. The barn is a long distance from
any neighbor's house, hence the occurence was unknown until the alarm was given
and a neighbor telephoned into town for a doctor and assitance. It is
thought that the elder Gordon may have been fatally injured.
