DISTRICT COURT IN SESSION.
-----
Members of Bar Elect
Frank Boyles to
Preside.
The special called term of the Honorable District court convened Monday morning.
As Judge is engaged in holding a regular
term of his court in Waco it was necessary to elect a special judge to preside
over this court here. Hon. Frank Boyles, County and District Attorney, was
chosen by a vote of seven to four by the members of the bar. Mr. Boyles'
term as County Attorney expires in a few days and as he has not been identified
with any of the civil cases which comprises the greater part of the docket this
term, he was a most available man for the position. That he will preside
with fairness and conspicuous ability no one doubts.
The session today was devoted principally
to the setting of the docket for the special term. There will be no grand
jury impannelled for the term.
THE BAR MEETING.
As prescribed by law in election special judge of the court, the members of the
bar met and organized by the election of Senator J. J. Swann chairman and County
Judge Hunnicutt secretary. A ballot was taken to select a judge of the
special term of the court which resulted as follows:--F. M. Boyles, 7; H. F.
Ring, 2; J. A. Martin, 1, J. J. Swann, 1. Mr. Boyles having received
majority of the votes cast, was declared elected by the chairman. The oath
of office was administered by Clerk Taylor and Judge Boyles entered upon the
discharge of his duties.
