A NOVEL DEFENSE.
A novel defense was set up recently
in the trial of a drunkenness case in the mayor's court. The defendant explained
his condition by saying that he had eaten cream and cucumbers and that they had
made him Sick "just like liquor." But the court did not accept the explanation
and a fine and costs to the amount of $15.35 was imposed upon him.
