NEGRO COMMITS
GRAVE CRIME.

Had a Bad Record Before Him.
-----
Sheriff Carlton is looking for one Alf Mimms, who is charged with having
committed a very grave crime, his ten year old step daughter being the victim.
Alf has been working on the farm of Mr.
Geo. W. Barnes on Blue Ridge for some time and it was there that the crime was
alleged to have been committed.
The culprit made his escape and has not
been captured, though the sheriff's force is scouring the country and will
probably be only a short time until he is behind the bars.
Mimms is a sharp featured, high cheeked,
coal black negro, with a bad record. He has been on the country road
divers and sundry times during the past few years, having been sent up for
various crimes from "rolling de bones" to wife beating.
When he is corralled this time he will be
tried on a much more serious charge and a long term in the pen or a short
engagement with the gallows may await him.
