COTTON NEWS.
The following items are taken from the Lott Clarion of date August 1st:
"Mr. Wallace Moore brought into the Clarion
office a cotton boll that measured 5 1-2 inches in circumference and weighed 2
oz. and says he has grown bolls enough on his cotton to make a bale to the acre.
Mr. Lit Chapman was in town Wednesday, and
says that his cotton will not make a bale of cotton to ten acres, unless some
change comes about, but he expects the change to come about.
Mr. J. E. Porter was in Lott Wednesday, and
informed the writer hereof, that if the boll weevil and other pests would stay
out of his cotton, he would make one and a half bales of cotton to the acre.
