APPOINTED CLAIM AGENT.
City Attorney Dan M. Jackson of this city will embark in the railroad service
about September lst.
He has been appointed Claim Agent of the
Texas and New Orleans railway with headquarters at Houston, his territory
extending from Houston to Orange and from Beaumont to Naccodoches (sic) with
occasional trip over other lines of the road, which is a part of the Southern
Pacific system.
The position is one of responsibility and
importance as it carries with it the adjustment of multiferous claims against
the company for damages both to person and property.
That Mr. Jackson is peculiarly qualified
for the position his friends have no doubt and expect of him a successiul (sic)
career in his new calling.
