CHARLEY BRADFORD ACQUITTED
~~~~~
Charley Bradford, the negro charged with assaulting John Gibson, also colored,
with a knife, was tried Thursday in county Court and acquitted. In the trial of
the case the defendant's evidence was sufficient to convince the jury that be
acted in self defense and he was discharged without much time wasted in
considering the case. There was much unstinted rejoicing in the family of
Bradford when the Jury returned the verdict. Several oscillatory performances
were indulged to the amusement of attorneys, officers and spectators.
