BALL AT THE ARLINGTON
~~~~~
The visiting club ladies were
tendered a dance Monday evening by the Arlington management and to say it was a
success is a mild expression. The Arlington peopIe left nothing undone on this
occasion. The dining hall was elaborately decorated with many colored lights and
the music for the dance was the best. About. fifty couples participated in the
grand march led by W. W. Allen and Mrs. Banks of Temple.
The visitors present crowded the hall to its capacity
in fact this was one of the largest attendance the Arlington bas ever had on an
occasion of this kind. Among the visiting ladies present were:
Mesdames McQueen, Hanway, Bryan; Gibson, Calvert; Maas,
Orand, Wise Robinson, Orand, Waco; Goodhue, Brown, Smith, Fuller, Sykes,
Beaumont; Shannon, Clantin, Fouts, Thomson, Young, Temple: Curry, Brenham; Chew,
Houston; Maitz, Goliad; Warner, Port Arthur; Yarrell, Belton; Scott, St. Louis;
Hayes, Moore, Scoffield; Galveston; Seymour, Dallas and Misses Ray, Belton;
Maynard, Bastrop; Miller, Anderson, Houston; Robertson, Austin; West, Waco;
Lowe, Dallas; Gaines, Galveston.
The ladies wore beautiful costumes and brilliant
jewels.
W. W. Allen and A. Levy were in charge of the floor and
they did credit to the occasion. Marlin has an entertainment committee right for
the summer and in the social line things should hum for the coming season.
