ATTIRED IN MALE ATTIRE.
A woman was arrested in Waco Sunday on a charge of parading in male attire,
which as the story goes, she had worn for a year in Waco. Her name is given as
Miss D. J. Crawford.
She was arrested while looking into a show
window on Austin street by Policeman Bob Buchanan. When accosted by the
officer, the woman dressed as a man was clad in a neat dressing suit with derby
hat, standing collar, white neck tie and a linen suit. When addressed on
the subject of her sex, she appeared to be very indignant and even used words to
the officer that were not pleasant for him to listen to. However, that did
not deter him from his suspicions, and he took her to the city hall and the city
physician was called. Seeing that her sex would soon be ascertained the
woman gave way to her feelings and acknowledged then that she was a woman, and
claimed that her name was the one given above and that her was in Tennessee.
She was released on bond in the sum of $25 to appear in the city court to answer
the charge.
