Anthrax In This Section

Dr. Knight Doesn't Believe Blind
Staggers Prevail

(Houston Post.)
State
Vetinary Surgeon Knight has returned from a trip up the Brazos river, where he
was called to investigate the cause of the great may deaths among work stock.
He states that he found every case he investigated to be that of anthrax. For
the past several weeks there have been frequent reports of the death of stock,
and it was stated that the stock was dying from blind staggers. The reports
came from the territory all the way from Bryan up to Temple. Dr. Knight states
that he feels reasonably sure from his investigations that the cause of all
deaths was anthrax. A number of cattle have died in the territory named also,
but he did not find any cows upon which to make an investigation, and is not
prepared to state the cause of the deaths.
During his trip he laid plans for the prevention of a spread of the disease,
and all horses and cows that become infected in the future will be burned.
