RAILROAD AGENT ASSAULTED
~~~~~
Found In An Unconscious Condition
By Track
~~~~~
Station Agent Towns, of the I. & G. N. railway at Hallsburg, was assaulted at an
early hour Friday-night by a negro and left beside the railway track near the
station in an unconscious condition.
His wounds consisted of a long gash on the head and a
bruise on the arm as if made with a blunt instrument.
He was picked up by the south bound night passenger
train and taken to Mart where he was given medical attention. He was taken to
the hospital at Palestine today. It is believed that he stands chance for
recovery.
What provoked the assault, or if there was any
provocation could not be learned.
Mr. Towns had been at Hallsburg about two months having
formerly held the agency at Cawthorn.
