Three young men, 12, 14, 14, were rushed to a Marlin hospital Sunday night from
Mooreville suffering from burns sustained in an unusual gasoline explosion.
The boys, Billy Earl Johnson, Doyle Miracle and Alvin Johnson of near
Eddy, poured gasoline into a well, then, a few minutes later dropped a lighted
match into the well, expecting the gasoline to burn on top of the water, they
explained.
Leaning over the curb to see the fire, they were flashed by flames from
the explosion and burned.
Two of the boys, Miracle and Alvin Johnson, were in the hospital with
severe burns on the face and arms. The other boy was burned, but less seriously.
The hospital reported the two boys were resting comfortably at 2:30
Sunday.--Marlin Democrat.
