LOCALS.
Hon. R
B Spencer and wife of Dublin, are visiting in the city.
The opening ball on the new Brazos Bridge
Tuesday eve was a most enjoyable affair and was well attended. The grand
structure was handsomely decorated with flags and bunting and it presented a
most attractive appearance. The evening was a most enjoyable one and the
people were indebted to the Sull Ross Memorial Association for affording them
the opportunity for this enjoyment. The bridge will be open for travel.
Judge Wm Shelton has a letter from
Superintendent Trice that says Marlin will not get the I. & G. N. shops.
Thus our fears are confirmed.
Marlin will not get the I. & G. N. shops.
That seems to be a settled fact. There are a good many people here that
have their own ideas as to the reason why.
We can hear Bro. McCollum's rooster crowing
"clar down hear." He's a lusty bird.
The campaign is over and after a little
pardonable jollitication all will, we hope, settle down to business again.
There should be no inharmonious feelings harbored by anyone on account of
anything said or done in the heat of discussion. We are the same people we
were before this acrimonious campaign reached Falls county. Let us
continue to be friends.
