Geo. M. Herring was moved Sunday and is getting along very well.

W. E. Waite of Reagan is now with Frank Peacock's saloon in Marlin, as
bartender.
Deputy Sheriff S. M. Steen is on a visit to his old in Nacogdoches.
Frank Dees was given thirty days on the county road on a charge of stealing a
bottle of whiskey.
Dr. L. P. Robertson, dentist has moved his office to the second floor of the

J. W. McConnell and Miss Stella McConnell of Birmingham, Ala., are among the
visitors.
The post office department has granted the application for two rural free
delivery routes from Marlin.
L. E. Allen left Monday night to Dallas where he goes on business. Lee is
a former school mate of Cecil A. Lyon who is just now directing the affairs of
the republican party in Texas and while in Dallas may drop around to see how his
old friend handles managerie. However, Lee and Cecil do not agree. politically.
Mrs. A. F. Brigance of Navasota is visiting her sister. Mrs. T. S. Clark, having
returned with their mother, Mrs. Osborne, who has been visiting Mrs. Brigance at
Navasota.
Sheriff Greer has returned from an official visit to Hearne and Bryan. He came
back without his quarry this time. The bird had either flown or had never
stopped long in either of those places.

Mrs. Llewellyn is visiting son Hon. Julian Llewellyn in Conroe.
Misses Ora Quaid and Annie Lee Crawford and Wyatt Thomas have returned to the
State University at Austin.

Capt. W. B. Murphy, came up from Batson Praisie Monday. He has been operating
machinery in the oil field for several weeks.
The promoters of the opera house have secured subscriptions for stock almost
sufficient to assure the success of the project.
Mr. O. H. Calvert of Brownwood arrived Friday afternoon on a visit to his
sister, Mrs. S. R. Oltorf. Mr. Calvert formerly resided in Marlin and has
met again many old friends.
John Kennedy and family whom the Ladies Social club and other charitable people
of the city have been assisting for several months, were sent to their old in
Arkansas on Monday, money having been subscribed for the purpose of defraying
their expenses.
The independent school district of Lott has recently issued $12,000 in bonds
with the proceeds of which they will erect a large brick building for school
house purposes.
A judgment was given H. T. Case against S. W. Henderson in county court
Thursday. The action was a suit with attachment on cotton seed etc, and the
judgment carries with it foreclosure. The defendant was given a judgment for two
horses and $10.00.
The rains of the last few days have been partial. Same sections of the county
have been visited by very good rains, while others have had scarcely any.
And this is about the condition that prevails over the
state.
Ed. Fairey and wife left Thursday for Fort Worth where they were called by the
announcement of the accidental death of Mrs. Fairey's father, Mr. Jones.
Deceased formerly resided at Riesel where he operated a hotel for a time.
Mr. E. E. Richardson, secretary and treasurer of the Kansas City Stock Yards
Co., of Missouri, is among the visitors to Marlin. Mr. Richardson
expresses himself as delighted with the results of his visit, finding a water
here that he had not expected to find in the United States.
The celebration of Texas Heroes Day has been postponed by the Daughters of the
Confederacy, until March 24. A literary and musical program is being arranged
for the meeting.
Rev. A. J. Weeks pastor of the Methodist church, went to Rosebud Monday to
assist in conducting a protracted meeting now in progress by the Methodists of
that town.
Dr. J. C. Shaw of Stranger was in the city Friday. He has recently returned from
a trip to Collin county.
Mr. John Hanady of Houston is in the city for the benefit of his health. He and
C. C. Chatham were college mates some thirty years ago.
Dr. W. M. Burgher of Stephenville, Texas is among the bathers in and drinkers of
Marlin hot water, He is more than pleased with results.
Pasturage
I have charge of the Capt. J. A. Martin pasture north-west of town. Good
pasturage including, plenty of water. Also service of male when desired.
