LOCALS
The game of ball between
the Waco and Marlin fate has been called off for the present.
Work is progressing nicely on the Ladies
Park Pavilion and the general work of improving the park. The ladies will
carry out their plans to the fullest in establishing the park.
Mr. Herbert Wagner returned to his run on
the road Monday after two days stay in the city. He is the same original
Wagner, wholesouled and genial that he was in days agone.
The grand jury met Monday to wind up the
business of the session.
A permit to wed has been granted Kyser
Reagan and Miss Stella Griggs.
Mesdames J. T. Harris and G. A. Holmes have
gone to Chicago and other Eastern places where they will spend the remainder of
the sumner.
The Brazos overflow that held the attention
of the people in this portion of the state the early part of last week is just
now causing much uneasiness nearer the mouth of the river. Points below
Navasota are overflowed almost as badly as in 1899. The damage to the
cotton there can not be estimated at this time.
Editor J. Fisher of the Riesel Rustler was
in the city Monday.
Miss Rosa La Prelle who has been visiting
Miss Mamie Bartlett has returned to her in Temple.
Judge J. R. Howard and Geo. Islieb of
Rosebud were in the city Tuesday.
Hon. Scott Field, democratic nominee for
Congress from the Robertson county district is in the city attending court.
Judge N. A. Steadman and family of
Palestine are among the visitors. Judge Steadman is the General Attorney
of the I. & G. N. Railway.
R. Denny Parker left today for a trip
through Northern States.
Don't forget the Passing party at Mrs. R.
B. Dupree's Friday night given by the Ladies Aid Society of the Marlin Baptist
church.
Miss Jessie Hemphill is visiting friends
out of the city.
Mrs. J. W. Spivey has returned from a visit
to Austin.
J. Tinsley is taking a week vacation from
Curtis & Co.
Sheriff Guy Townsend of Robertson county is
in the city.
Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Tubb have returned from
a visit to Mexia.
The Passing Party at Mrs. R. B. Dupree's
Friday night promises to be very interesting.
Dr. W. R. Snead is visiting his brother,
Dr. J. C. Snead at Rosebud.
Mrs. Guy Elam and children have returned
from a visit to Dallas friends.
Mr. and Mrs. C L Fannin and sister Miss
Pearl Rogers of Reagan will spend two weeks in Galveston.
Miss Bella Rosenthal has returned to Waco
after a visit to Mrs. Sam Bykowski. She was accompanied by Miss Nettye and
Master Harry Bykowsky.
The society people of Waco Calvert and
other places have a cordial invitation to attend the Arlington Ball Friday
night. Music will be furnished by the Arlington orchestra and a splendid
time will be assured every one.
