visitors to Marlin.
City Marshal Stallworth is confined to his

J. C. Brothers of Stranger loaded out for
Checotah, Ind. Ter. Wednesday.
Mrs. Ed Strawn of Waco is visiting Marlin
for the benefit of her health.
Constable Poole of Bremond was here on
official business Tuesday afternoon.
J. M. Williamson left Thursday for Enid,
Oklahoma, where he goes to take charge of a shoe house.
J. W. Stuart is here from Teague.
Says Teague is the biggest town in Texas for its size.
Constable Steve Hemphill is up again after
a ten days' seige (sic) with dengue. Steve says its no joke.
Mrs. T. N. Bemus, formerly Miss Lena Elam,
is here from Brookshire visiting Miss Una and Dr. Elam.

local office, left Thursday for several weeks visit to Tucumcari, New Mexico.
Conductor Slaight, on I. & G. N. main line,
is registered as a visitor to the hot water resort, being laid off for general
repairs.
Mrs. B. W. Almsworth of Riesel was among
the ladies from out of town to attend the millinery openings in Marlin this
week.
A. C. Schimming has returned from Riesel
where he went to put the finishing touches on the tin work on Otto Rau's new
residence.
Dr. I. Werblum, optician of San Antonio,
who makes regular visits to Marlin, will be here at the Rice-Allen Infirmary
Oct. 14 and 15. Examination of the eyes free. 175-6ft.
Sheriff Poole served a distress warrant on
Will Ward, a tenant on the farm of J. E. Tomlinson, west of the river, Wednesday
night. The warrant was in favor of the J. E. Tomlinson, the landlord, and
the amount is $73 and the rent for this year.
Cards are being sent out containing the
announcement of the coming marriage of Alfred T. Godshaw of Louisville, Ky., and
Miss Carrie Sanger, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Sanger of Waco. The
wedding will take place on Oct. 22 at Temple Rodef Sholem.
The following delegates have been elected
to represent the First Baptist church of Marlin at the Baptist state cenvention
(sic): D H Boyles, R A Fitzgerald, M T Andrews, C C Morris, B D Cooley, A
Lamb, W C Rogers. C.T. Curry was elected board member for the ensuing
year.
B. M. Price has recently enlarged his
blacksmith shop by adding an extension to the north end and now runs a double
header in the horseshoeing (sic) line. He has a stand at one end of the
shop and J. S. Davidson at the other, while W. T. Vinson looks after the center.
It is a strong combination.
