       Joe Watkins is in Decatur for a few days on business and during his absence Frank Clarke is holding down his job at W. M. Gunnell's.

       Deputy Watkins has returned from a trip to west Falls.  While out, he took in Anderson Parker and George Gibson on charges of gaming.

       Fresh Limberger in brick at Cousins & Schuh's.

       Miss Bessie Harlan left Monday afternoon for Collins, Va., where she will attend school during the coming session.

       Miss Mary Bartlett left Tuesday for Austin where she has a position as teacher in the deaf and dumb institute.

       Sheriff Poole returned Friday afternoon from Highbank where (missing) located and caught Ike Smith (a)lias Chas. Smith, who is wanted (o)n an old charge of gaming.

       The funeral services of Mrs. E. A. Shields were held at the Presbyterian church Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock.  Rev. J. A. Montgomery, conducting.  Beside friends and relatives residing here, there were present Mr. and Mrs. H. Brevard, Mrs. R.B. Manlove, Mrs. Hall and R. M. Key of San Marcos, Mrs. Francis Smith of El Paso, Shields Key of Garden City and J. H. Key of Austin.

       Earle C. Smith is now the possessor of "Red Snapper," a famous English bulldog that won the prize at the Buffalo show this year.  He arrived by express Saturday afternoon and is much admired by all who have seen him.
