Briefly Told
Rev. O. W. Hooper and
family left Thursday for Orange, where he will be pastor of a Methodist church
during the coming year.
Marlin cotton receipts for the 1931 season
total 15,722 bales, that number having been weighed from wagon and trunk at the
warehouse and yard exclusive of cotton shipped from other points for pressing.
Mr. and Mrs. Reed Hayes of Orange, Mr. and
Mrs. W. E. Montague of Rockdale, Mrs. C. H. Varnado of Axtell and Mrs. J. M.
Arnett of Beaumont are in Marlin with their mother, Mrs. S. E. Hayes, who is
ill.
Rev. S. D. Dollahite, pastor of the First
Baptist church of Marlin, presided over the State Baptist Convention in session
at Waco during a period Thursday. Mr. Dollahite was elected a vice
president on motion of Rev. M. T. Andrews, former pastor of the Marlin church.
