Briefly Told
Miss Virginia Earl Smith underwent an operation for
appendicitis at a Marlin hospital this morning.
There will be weekly prayer meeting tonight at the First Presbyterian church at
7:15 o'clock instead of 7:30 o'clock.
Sam Townsend of Houston is visiting his neice (sic), Mrs. C. W. Rush and family.
Mr. Townsend stopped in Marlin on his way from a trip to Fort Worth.
The Marlin Library Study Club meets Thursday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock in the
lecture room of the Majestic-Annex hotel. An executive committee meeting
is called for three p.m. Thursday.
Burning grass on a vacant lot on the south side of Agnes avenue at the Carter
street intersection resulted in an alarm being turned in to the Marlin fire
department at 10:18 o'clock Tuesday night. "One fence post slightly
damaged" was the fire department's report.
Adoption of the budget for the 1931-32 session of the Marlin public schools and
allowing of monthly accounts was the only business transacted at the regular
October session of the board of trustees of the Marlin independent school
district Tuesday night.
