Briefly Told
Senator Tom Connally left this afternoon for Houston where he
will address the Texas District and County Attorneys Association at a banquet
tonight.
J. B. Billingsley is carrying his left arm in a sling, complications having
developed in connection with an injury to the bone sustained in a fall about two
weeks ago.
W. W. Denard and family attended the funeral of Mrs. Ruby Hawkins at Mooreville
Thursday afternoon, Mrs. Denard being a cousin of Chas. Hawkins, husband of
deceased.
Mrs. J. A. Adams and sons, Joe and Maurice, of Waco, Thursday visited her
cousin, Mrs. Ben West, who has been quite ill for several days at her apartment
on Chambers street.
A. F. Judd, division superintendent of the Missouri Pacific Railway is here from
Palestine for a rest up. He was accompanied to Marlin by Dr. E. B. Parson,
company physician, who returned today.
H. D. Rush left this morning to attend the fall opening of the furniture market
being held at Fort Smith. He was accompanied by Mrs. Rush and after the
market, they will spend a short vacation in the Ozarks.
Miss Maude Reat, a member of the 1931 graduating class of Marlin High school who
entered the summer term of Southwest Texas State Teachers College at San Marcos
immediately afterwards, made the honor roll of that institution the first term.
This is said to be an unusual accomplishment for a freshman.
