Senator Tom Connally
returned today from Midland where he spoke Thursday.
C. C. Nichols has returned from a two days visit in Austin, looking in on the
legislature while there.
Perhonh appointed notary public are required to qualify June 1, states Louis
Williams, Falls county clerk, unless they are out of the county on that date, in
which case they must do so within 10 days after returning.
Apparently caused by a short, fire damaged wiring on a car belonging to Son
Tyson on Live Oak street when it became ignited Thursday night. Called to
the scene at 9:28 p.m., Marlin fireman quickly had the blaze under control.
Miss Jacie Linthicum left via automobile today for Gainesville, Ga., where she
will attend commencement exercises of Brenau College, of which she is a
graduate. She was joined at Waco by Mrs. J. B. Smith, who will accompany
her.
Marlin high school's 1931 graduating class had charge of final weekly chapel
exercises in the school auditorium this morning. Appropriate talks were
made by H. J. McIlhany, superintendent, and W. T. Betts, principal, and several
musical selections were given by members of the Senior Class.
Commencement exercises of the Methodist Orphanage at Waco Thursday night were
attended by Dr. J. W. Torbett of Marlin, president of the board; Rev. J. Coy
Williams, of Texarkana and former Marlin pastor, a member of the board; Rev. E.
L. Ingrum, presiding elder of the Marlin Methodist district; and Rev. O. W.
Hooper, pastor of the First Methodist church of Marlin.
