Choir rehearsal will be held at St.
John's Episcopal church at eight o'clock tonight.
J. F. Archer of Thornton underwent an operation in a Marlin institution Tuesday.
The picnic planned for intermediate young people of the First Baptist church for
Friday night has been postponed.
J. H. Porter, confederate veteran residing at Troy for 60 years, was in Marlin
today en route to Thornton to visit a sister.
The Workers' Council of the First Baptist church meets at the church at 8:15
o'clock Friday night. All officers and teachers of the Sunday school are
requested to attend.
Misses Kate and Mamie Laura Montgomery, daughters of Rev. J. A. Montgomery, a
former Presbyterian pastor of Marlin, now residing at Jasper, Fla., are expected
to arrive in Marlin this weekend on a visit in the of Mrs. M. C. Peyton.
"Lots of good news over our way," said Ben Bruner, commissioner of precinct no.
4 this morning. "Just finished putting down 3512 yards of gravel on the roads of
Chilton Road District, and we also moved the weeds along the right of way, too."
The City Federation of Women's Clubs
will have a called meeting Friday morning at 10 o'clock in the of Mrs. Levi
Goodrich to make plans for the forthcoming visit in Marlin soon of Mrs. R. F.
Lindsay of Mount Pleasant, state president. All club members in the city are
requested to be present.
Trial of Constable Will Grochoske of justice precinct No. 6 of Falls county,
slated to be arraigned in district court in Marlin Monday on a charge of murder
in connection with slaying of W.A. Rowe near Otto, has been reset for Monday,
August 3, pending efforts to locate a transient witness.

Mrs. Leroy McLennan of Mercedes is the guest of Mrs. Mabel Dunigan.
Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Abbott left today for Corpus Christi for a month's visit.
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Nusbaum and family of Galveston are enjoying a visit to
Marlin, guests of Mrs. Lily Levi.
Mr. and Mrs. T. K. Barton have returned from San Antonio where they were
visiting with their daughter and son, Mrs. Lee Hunnicutt and Warren Barton.
