She taught the Bible Class at Blue Ridge Baptist Church for years, and most of their children were members of that church. William Howell Woodland was an "independent" in politics. He and Ella first lived in a little house in their pasture back of the Blue Ridge Cemetery; but in 1891 they built a beautiful two-story on the hill overlooking the Blue Ridge School. The is no longer standing. William Howell was counted as one of the most substantial citizens of Falls County during his life, because of his honesty, economy, and his accumulation of considerable property.
