WITTNER, Anton

Anton Wittner, b 1849 in Germany, d 1913 at Cottonwood in Falls County,
Texas-came to Washington County, Texas about 1870. In 1874, he married Pauline
Gummelt, b 1853 in Prussia, d 1929-a sister of Peter Gummelt who settled in
Falls County, Texas. Anton and Pauline moved to Falls County and settled in the
Cottonwood Community. The Cottonwood Baptist Church was organized in their in 1884.
Anton farmed all his married life in the Cottonwood Community, where he and
Pauline are both buried. They reared seven children:
Emma Wittner, b 1874, d 1959-married Gus Guderian in 1895.
Edwin Wittner, b 1877, d 1945-married Emma Hirsch in 1900.
Frank Wittner, b 1881, d 1959-married Malinda Henkel.
Herman Wittner, b 1885, date of death unknown-married Frieda Henkel.
Emil Wittner, b 1886, d 1943-married Rosa Neutzler.
Hulda Wittner, b 1888, d 1971-married O.D. Miller.
Lydia Wittner, b 1892, d 1964-married Albert Kuehn.
