William Floyd "Buck" Williams b June 14, 1815 in Tennessee. At the age of 20
he emigrated to Texas entering in February 1836. He served during
the war for Texas Independence, and fought at the battle of San
Jacinto. For his service he received military bounty land warrant
number 477 for 320 acres of land, which was surveyed in two parts,
located in Cherokee County. After the war, Buck resided in
Nacogdoches County where he married Amanda Walling on September 16,
1841. Amanda was b August 1, 1825 in Mississippi. When Cherokee
County was formed from Nacogdoches County in 1845, the family was in
the new county where they remained until about 1857 when they moved
to southwestern Falls County. He became a farmer and stock raiser.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Kosse.
Buck died August 27, 1878 and Amanda Walling Williams died April 16, 1912.
Both are buried in the Williams Family Cemetery just off Highway 14
between Mustang Prairie and Kosse.
Ten children were born to the couple:
1) Nancy Ann b August 25, 1842 died December 4, 1920. She is buried in the
Williams Family Cemetery. She married Henry C. Ferguson September 8,
1859. He died during the Civil War, while in the Confederate States
Army. They had two children,
A.) William Haden born 2 October 1860, d August 25, 1929, buried in Kosse
Cemetery-married Lena Ann Fuller, b September 3, 1876 d December 26,
1963, buried Kosse Cemetery; and had six children:
a) Marion Ferguson b January 24, 1889 married Wallace Parrott, one child,
William Boyd who married Dorothy Whitner;
b)Travis Ferguson died at age 3 about 1903;
c) John Emmit married Burrel Cooper;
d) Henry Delbert married Mildred Johnson, one child Helen Ferguson who
married Dr. Jack Flowers of Waco; and they had two daughters Susan
and Patty.
e)Beatrice Ferguson married first Lee Stricklin, second R.J. Higgins.
Beatrice had a daughter Juanita.
f) Ailene Ferguson married John Dees, one child John Allen Dees.
B) John Henry Ferguson, b February 20, 1863 d December 14, 1884; married
Annie (maiden name unknown), had two children, one died young, name
unknown and Stella Ferguson.
2) John W. Williams b October 25, 1844, died November 24, 1880, buried in
the family cemetery-served in the Confederate States Army in company
K, 12th Texas Cavalry married ca 1873 to Alice (maiden name
unknown), and had 4 children;
a) Daisy Williams Rucker.
b) Elmo Williams married Minnie (maiden name unknown), and had Archie and
Alice Williams.
c) John Williams b August 9, 1879, d December 7, 1889.
d) Claude Williams who married Effie (maiden name unknown).
3) Rhoda C. Williams b July 13, 1847, died September 19, 1868 and buried in
the family cemetery-married February 6, 1868 to William Endsley.
4)Martha Ann Williams b October 13, 1850 d July 11, 1954.
5)William Isaac Williams b June 1, 1853 married Mary, (maiden name unknown).
He had children named Lillie, Claude, Dora, Dee, and Press.
6) Amanda Cora Williams b January 14, 1856 d August 5, 1866.
7) Dora Elmina Williams b August 4, 1859, d July 8, 1921 maried first C.A.
Callen and had no children. She married James A. Pittman in 1880,
and had Ethel who married Charles Briggs, Estelle Pittman Connant,
Alma Pittman Rogers, Alda Pittman, Alfred Pittman, and Homer Pittman
who married Ruby Adams, Alice A. Pittman b December 1, 1884 died
July 25, 1888 and is buried in Williams Family Cemetery.
8) Luticia Josephine Williams b November 2, 1861 married William Henry
Williams December 23, 1877; of their children, Martha b 8 September
1878 d December 1, 1878 and Viola Pearl b October 1, 1882 d April
12, 1918 are buried in Williams Family Cemetery, Daisy, Annie, Doc,
and Aldon.
9) Williamson Madison Williams b December 20, 1866 married Eva Robison.
Their children: Zelma, Herman, Imogene, and Ernestene Williams.
10) David Claude Williams b July 11, 1869 married Sallie P. Hammond February
26, 1899. Six children;
a) Floyd Lyonel Williams b 5 April 1900 married Pearl Webster October 6,
1918. They had Lionel Wayne Williams b February 23, 1921, d November
6, 1944;
Billy James Williams b January 25, 1923;
Vernon Tilman Williams b April 12, 1926;
Rose Mary Williams b December 21, 1929;
David Clinton Williams b November 28, 1933 and
Bobby Lynn Williams b January 26, 1936.
b)Ila Nadine Williams b November 27, 1901 maried Clyde Frank Yates January
2, 1925. She died August 27, 1980.
c) Icy Neva Williams b April 24, 1903 died April 30, 1978.
d) Erma Fay Williams b November 4, 1904 died January 16, 1906.
e) Alice Zona Willims b February 8, 1908 d April 26, 1960.
f)Vera Elizabeth Williams b August 27, 1911 married Wilmer Pamplin September
22, 1935. They reside in Kosse, Texas; one son, Tommy Joe b November
2, 1945 married Sharon Menn February 25, 1967 in Harris County.
