WHITAKER, PINKNEY CARTER

Pinkney Carter Whitaker, b December 31, 1912 in Falls County-the eighth of
ten children of George David Vincent and Martha Elizabeth (Pryor)
Whitaker-natives of Georgia, grew up in the Chilton area of Falls
County, Texas.
On September 19, 1936, "Carter" was married to Crystal Alice Sikes, b 1918.
Carter served in the U. S. Army during World War II, returning after the war. He has operated the Whitaker Nursery, on Highway 7
West between Chilton and Marlin, for many years.
The couple are the parents of two sons:
Albert Leon Whitaker, b November 22, 1937, is employed by the Mental Health
and Mental Retardation department in Waco, Texas, and had been a
former Laboratory Technician at the Torbett-Hutchings-Smith Memorial
Hospital in Marlin. He was married on October 16, 1963 to Della Mae
Christian, b August 16, 1943 in Marlin-a daughter of Olin Clyde
Christian-born in Penelope, Hill County, Texas, and buried there by
his parents, and his wife, Laura Lovell (Pelham) Christian, a native
of Groesbeck, Limestone County, Texas, who resides in Marlin, Texas.
Albert and Della Mae have two children: Holly Rae Whitaker, b March
30, 1969; and Justin Vincent Whitaker, b December 8, 1971. Albert
and Della Mae own and operate the Whitaker Ceramic Business-across
the highway from his father's Nursery.
James David Whitaker, b March 19,1940 in Falls County, Texas. No further
information.
Carter and his brother,Charles, were the only two of the ten children of
their parents who remained in Falls County, and both have
descendants who still reside there.
