Wilson Whatley, b ca 1810 in Georgia, d after 1870 in Falls County, Texas-was married ca 1835 in Georgia to Mary (maiden name unknown), b 1816 in Georgia, died before 1870 in Falls County.
About 1858, Wilson and Mary immigrated to Texas, settling near the farm of Henry Duty and Fielden Ruble on the West Side of the Brazos River. The 1860 Census indicated that seven children, born in Georgia, came with them, and they had one more in Falls County. Their descendants said they had eight of twelve children to survive, and the eight were:
James Oscar Whatley, b 1837 in Georgia, date of death unknown-married January 17, 1859 in Falls County, Texas to Mary Jane Duty, b ca 1845 in Arkansas, date of death unknown-a daughter of William Henry Duty and his second wife, Nancy (Jones) Duty, who came to present-day Falls County before 1850, via Hopkins County, 1846.
William Thomas Whatley, b September 12, 1840 in Georgia, d January 29, 1881-married in Falls County on February 5, 1865 to Luvicey Ann (called "Visa") Ruble, b April 9, 1846 in Texas, d March 25, 1900 and buried in Blevins Cemetery-a daughter of Fielden and Frances (Simmons) Ruble, who were married in Austin's Colony in 1833.
H. Sampson Whatley, b ca 1842 in Georgia-no information.
Elizabeth Whatley, b ca 1845 in Georgia-no information.
Mary O. Whatley, b May 1, 1846 in Georgia, d March 13, 1895 and buried in Blevins Cemetery-married ca 1870 to John Standridge.
John Lucian Whatley, b ca 1849 in Georgia-married ca 1871 to Mary (maiden name unknown), b ca 1849 in Texas.
Calvin Whatley, b ca 1852 in Georgia-no further information.
Catherine Whatley, b ca 1859 in Falls County, Texas-no information.
There have been descendants of Wilson and Mary Whatley in Falls County for over 125 years.
