Meredith Wright, b July 2, 1846 in Laurence County, Alabama, d in 1895 in Hamilton County, Texas-a son of Thomas and Mary Wright of Alabama who came to McLennan County, Texas between 1857 and 1860. By 1860, when the Census was recorded, Mary Wright was a widow still residing in McLennan County.
Meredith married on November 7, 1867 to Louisa Catherine Goodman, b April 20, 1949 in Mississippi, d July 7, 1917 at Bowie, Montague County, Texas in the of a son-a daughter of George and Sarah (Holbrook) Goodman who came to Texas in 1853, settling in Riesel, McLennan County, Texas.
Meredith and Louisa Wright bought a farm at Blevins, Falls County, Texas, and he also had other land investments in Texas. In 1895, Meredith left Falls County by wagon, enroute to Young County, Texas, to collect a debt for a a land sale. He was shot and killed-probably on the return trip-in Hamilton County, and his eldest son, James Meredith Wright, had to go there to collect his belongings. The family has never learned what happened.
Meredith and Louisa had six children:

James Meredith Wright, b January 3, 1871 on Deer Creek near Blevins, Falls County, Texas, d July 18, 1942-married Lula Lucretia Ables, of Westphalia.

Marly Louisa Wright, b 1873 at Blevins.

Denna Wright, b 1876 at Blevins.

Horace J. Wright, b 1878 at Blevins, d October 24, 1955, Horace and wife, Maude, lived at Lott at the time of his death.

Peachie Wright, b 1880 at Blevins.

Grace Wright, b January 5, 1888 at Blevins, d December 16, 1973.

After Meredith's death, Louisa lived in Riesel near her relatives for several years. She was known of her shrewd business ability in handling her real estate.

George F. Goodman b.4/30/1818 N.C., son of "Caleb" John Godlieb Goodman and Catherine Pless Goodman of N.C.; twin to Henry Caleb Goodman [4/30/1818 6/20/1910 Rowan Co., N.C.], married Sarah [Holbrook]. Their eldest child Louisa Catherine Goodman was born in Smith Co., Ms.; m. 11/7/1867 to Meredith Wright, as per Falls County Biographies. George and Sallie were in Trinity Co., Tx. in the 1860 Census. Also living with them were his sister [Lydia] Catherine Holbrook and her children, Paul Monroe & Wm. Pinckney Holbrook. My great-great-grandfather was "Caleb" Goodman who is buried in Hot Spring Co., Ark. with his 2nd. wife Mary "Polly" Cammell or Campbell. Catherine Pless Goodman m.2nd. Henry Furr, both are buried in the Phannel Baptist Church Cemetery, Rowan Co., N.C.
HELP!!! Where are George & Sallie Goodman [d. bef 1870] buried?? Where are their descendants? Where is Catherine Holbrook and her children buried. I have 12 generation of our Goodman family history. Thanks. hddavis@ipa.net
