Beasley, Texas-married ca 1875 in Germany to Otilla Will, b ca 1850

had six children before they decided to emigrate to America. In
1889, William and his thirteen-year-old daughter sailed to New York
on a freighter from Bremerhaven, Germany, then sailed to Galveston.
The trip cost $75.00. They moved to Hallettsville, Texas, where
William worked to save money for the passage of his wife and other
children, who came to Texas in 1890. William and his daughter moved
around Texas, working at various jobs, and the rest of the family
joined them in Texas in 1890. The only one of the children of
William and Otilla Wornat who has been identified was his eldest
daughter:
Emma Anna Wornat, b February 15, 1876 in Germany-married in Texas at the age
of fifteen years, in 1891, to Henry Addicks. They had three children
before they were divorced, and Emma returned to live with her
parents. She reverted to her maiden name, and her children also used
the surname of "Wornat" instead of "Addicks." Their descendants have
continued to use the "Wornat" name. Only one of Emma's children was
identified by name:
Herman Hugo Wornat, b April 5, 1893 in Hallettsville, Texas-was married July

nine children who survived infancy, and two of these were Richard
Wornat (called "Dick"), who was a farmer and rancher on the Rock Dam
Road west of Marlin; and the youngest, Roy Leslie Wornat, b July 2,
1924 near Rocky Hill (also west of Marlin). Roy attended school at
Blue Ridge and Reagan, where he graduated in 1942 from Reagan High
School. He was offered a football scholarship, but refused and
joined the U.S. Navy, in which he served during World War II.
On April 16, 1948 in Waco, McLennan County, Texas, Roy Leslie Wornat was
married to Margaret Ann Kuropata-a daughter of Cyril and Anna
(Pitrucha) Kuropata, natives of Czechoslovakia. The family lived in
Eddy, Texas when Margaret was in school. Roy has been a car salesman
and part-time rancher, living in Marlin. He and Margaret had three
