WILLIAM AUGUSTUS TOMLINSON
William Augustus Tomlinson, b September 10, 1869 in Falls County, Texas,
d January 11, 1932 and buried in Calvary Cemetery in Marlin, Falls County, Texas
- was a son of James Eldridge and Emma Diantha (Perry) Tomlinson.
On December 14, 1888 in Falls County, William Augustus was married to
Harriet Serepta Hamilton Peoples, b September 6, 1880 in Falls County, Texas, d
November 13, 1967 and buried in Calvary Cemetery - a daughter of Captain John C.
Peoples, a veteran of the Confederate States Army during the Civil War, and his
second wife, Sarah R. (Harlan) Peoples - a sister of his first wife, Martha
(Harlan) Peoples, who died in Arkansas.
William Augustus and Hattie lived on the family farm at Tomlinson Hill,
and they had four children:
Jane Harley Tomlinson, b August 24,1899, d January 9, 1979 and buried in
Calvary Cemetery in Marlin - married first to Lysias Brown Chilton, Jr., b April
13, 1883 in Falls County, Texas, d April 7, 1928 and buried in Calvary Cemetery
- a son of Lysias Brown and Ida Pauline (Anders) Chilton. L. B., Jr. and Harley
were the parents of four children: Jane Chilton, who married first to Clyde W.
Scott, Jr., and had David W. Scott and Mary Chilton Scott, and married second to
John Justin, of Fort Worth, Texas; Pauline Chilton, who married Robert Coquat;
Lysias Brown Chilton, III, who married Joann Brown, and had issue; and Mable Lea
Chilton, who married John B. Collier, III, and had John B. Collier, IV and
Carmyn Collier. Harley (Tomlinson) Chilton was married second in March 1929 to
Bradley J. Linthicum, Jr. - a son of Bradley J. and Ida Pauline (Anders-Chilton)
Linthicum, and a half - brother to Harley's first husband. Bradley and Harley
had no children.
John Peoples Tomlinson, b October 27, 1900, d 1981and buried in Calvary
Cemetery in Marlin, Falls County, Texas - married October 6, 1924
to Olga Tomlinson - a daughter of Jeptha Perryman and Frances (Rabb) Tomlinson.
They had no children. John and Olga made their in the of parents and
his grandparents, until his death. Olga continued to live there, until 1985,
when she resettled in Marlin, where she now resides.
Alwyn Perry Tomlinson, b June 17, 1902, d October 18, 1937 - married
August 29, 1925 to Ruth For- rest, and had Bennie Ruth Tomlinson.
Clara Eliza Tomlinson (called "Nida"), b January 15, 1904, d April 25,
1985 and buried in Calvary Cemetery in Marlin, Falls County, Texas - married
April 29, 1923 in Falls County to John Calhoun Peevey, Jr. (called "Boss"), b
November 15, 1898 in Falls County, Texas, d September 10, 1979 and buried in
Calvary Cemetery in Marlin. They were the parents of three children: John
Calhoun Peevey married Letha Faye Hodge, and has two children; Mary Ann Peevey
married Kenneth Griffith Garrett, and had three children; and William Albert
Peevey, b April 27, 1931, d December 7, 1950 in a truck accident, and buried in
Calvary Cemetery in Marlin.
