AUGUSTUS FRANKLIN TOMLINSON

Augustus Franklin Tomlinson (called "Gus"), b 1848 in Conecuh County, Alabama, d 1930 at Lott, Falls County, Texas and buried there in Clover Hill Cemetery - was the fourth of eight children of James Kendrick and Sarah Jemima (Stallworth) Tomlinson, who settled in Falls County, Texas about 1858.

In 1872, Gus was married to Elizabeth Jane Landrum, b 1855, d 1946 and buried in Clover Hill Cemetery at Lott - a daughter of Dr. Benjamin L. and Elizabeth (Park) Landrum, natives of South Carolina. Gus and Elizabeth Jane were the parents of three children:

James Benjamin Tomlinson, b July 25, 1877,d December 29, 1959 and buried in Clover Hill Cemetery at Lott - married Mary Ann Currie, b January 17, 1877, d January 1, 1963 and buried in Clover Hill Cemetery at Lott. Their children were: Eldridge Tomlinson, who married and had two children: Joseph Tomlinson, who married but had no children; Elizabeth Tomlinson, de- ceased - no information; Ira lone Tomlinson, b February 2, 1910, d August 29, 1918 and buried in Clover Hill Cemetery at Lott; and Julia Tomlinson, who married a Mr. Foster, and had two children.

William Eldridge Tomlinson, b January 13, 1880 - married Lou Paul, and had two sons: William Eldridge Tomlinson, Jr., who married Helen Anderson and had William Eldridge Tomlinson, III, James Anderson Tomlinson, and Paul S. Tomlinson; John Franklin Tomlinson, who married Velma Crafton and had Betty Lou Tomlinson and John Franklin Tomlin- son, Jr.

Gus and Elizabeth Jane (Landrum) Tomlinson farmed on his father's land until 1883, when he purchased a farm near Lott. He was engaged in buying and feeding cattle, as well as farming. Elizabeth Jane inherited 63 acres of land from her father's estate. The couple built a that was described as "substantial and elegant."

They had Minnie Lee Trice, who married Walton Taylor Wideman and had Walter Taylor Wideman, Jr. and Carolyn Wideman; Lovey Trice, b August 1, 1906, d May 27, 1952, who married first to Edwin Lee Numbers and had Edwin Lee Numbers, Jr. and Nancy Numbers, and married second to Tom W. Giles; Charles Lee Trice, Jr., who married Daphene Bailey of Lott, and had Charles Lee Trice, III, Joe Clyde, and James Wilson Trice; Thomas Augustus Trice, b February 11, 1910 in Lott, d December 23, 1910 and buried in Clover Hill Cemetery at Lott; Wilson Wright Trice, who married Mary Ailene Chamberlain and had Patricia Jean Trice, Barbara Ann Trice, and Mary Linda Trice; and Frances Virginia Trice, b February 23, 1918 in Lott, d September2, 1973 and buried in Christ Church Cemetery in Greenwich, CT who married Howard Vaughn Hoover, b June 23, 1917 in Washington, D. C., d May 26, 2001 and buried in Christ Church Cemetery in Greenwich, CT and had Harriet Anne Hoover, b December 23, 1940 in Washington, D. C., who married Thomas John Yobage, b May 31, 1938 in Norwalk, CT, and had Anne Catherine Yobage, b July 31, 1965 in Rye, NY and Alison Frances Yobage, b May 25, 1973 in Greenwich, CT; and Howard Trice Hoover, b November 17, 1944 in Chicago, IL who married Sherry Lane Thomas b.
