JAMES DWAYNE TOBIAS
James Dwayne Tobias (called "Jimmy"), b July 31, 1947 in Marlin - is a
son of Alton Monroe Tobias, Jr. (deceased) and Leola Howze, who lives in Lott.
In 1965, Jimmy enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was sent to Da Nang, Viet Nam in
October 1967, serving for two years with a rank of E-4. He is farming near Lott
where he lives with his two daughters.
On August 1, 1970, Jimmy was married to Linda Swingler, b February 14,
1947 in Houston, a daughter of George Washington Swingler, b November 3, 1900 at
Oletha, Limestone County, d March 19, 1960 at a bus stop in Houston who married
on September 30, 1932 to Eva Bolin, b at Thornton, Texas, a daughter of Harvey
Pink Bolin, b January 23, 1868 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, d December 14, 1953
and Nora McDaniel, b 1876 in Tennessee, d August 15, 1919. Linda's grandparents
were William and Laura (West) Swingler, and her great grandfather, George W.
Swingler, b ca 1835 in Germany lived in Falls County in 1850 in the of
Wilburn Jones, later moving to Robertson County.
Jimmy and Linda have two daughters: Mindy Tobias, b June 19, 1971 at
Rosebud; and Melanie Lynn Tobias, b March 16, 1980 in Rosebud. Linda is working
at Giovanni's Mall in Baytown while her family lives
in Lott.
