Thomas Henry Thrasher, b March 6, 1884 in Falls County, Texas, d March 5, 1971
in Rosebud was buried in Powers Chapel Cemetery in Falls County, Texas. His
parents have been reported to have lived in Jones Prairie, Milan County,
Texas, prior to moving into Falls County.
On December 22, 1908 in Milam County, Texas, Thomas Henry married Sarah Ellen
Reaves, b March 20, 1888, in Montgomery County, Texas, d November 28, 1968 and
buried in Powers Chapel Cemetery--a daughter of John Edward and Bettie
Ann(Dawson)Reaves.
Tom and Ellen Thrasher moved to Oklahoma in 1917, returning to Pleasant Grove,
Falls County, in 1943 to the Reaves place, where he farmed. Their
children were:
John Elwood Thrasher, b March 31, 1911 in Falls County--married on August 6,
1931 to Gertrude Huddleston. They still live on the old Reaves-Thrasher place at Pleasant Grove, and attended the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. They
had four sons and one daughter: Lee Roy, Billy Ray, daughter-Eljean, Edward
Thomas, and Robert Wayne Thrasher.
Grady Thrasher, b ca 1913--married Ruby Davis, moved to Fort Worth, Texas and
had one son, William Howard Thrasher.
Thelma Lois Thrasher, b January 20, 1916--married March 17, 1934 to O. C.
Hyde--a farmer in the rosebud area, now living in Rosebud. They had three
children: O. C. Hyde, Jr.; Charles Thomas Hyde, and Lois Marie Hyde.
J. C. Thrasher, b ca 1918 in Oklahoma, married Ora Belle Cox, moved to Forth
Worth, Texas, and had one daughter, Debra Thrasher.
Winston S. Thrasher, b ca 1920 in Oklahoma--married Ruth Walston and had four
daughters. They were divorced, and Ruth has reared the children in Rosebud,
where she worked for thirty years at the Rosebud hospital. Winston remarried,
and moved to Arlington, Texas.
Earl Thrasher--a twin--b 1925 in Oklahoma, married Dee Burns. He is a farmer
at Pleasant Grove, and Dee has been on the staff at the Rosebud hospital for
many years. They have two children: Earl Thrasher Jr. and Karen Thrasher.
Berl Trasher--a twin--b 1925--in Oklahoma, has married twice, and farms at
Pleasant Grove.
Melvin Thrasher, b October 22, 1928 in Oklahoma--married June 26, 1953 to Ann
Self , moved to Fort Worth, Texas--where he worked for 7-UP Bottling Company
for thirty-five years, and Ann was employed at Montgomery Ward for twenty-nine
years. They are members of the Decatur Avenue Baptist Church, where Melvin
serves as a Deacon.
