REVEREND ISAAC TAYLOR
Reverend Isaac Taylor, b ca 1829 in Kentucky, d June 3, 1895 - was
married first in Illinois ca 1850 to Jane (maiden name unknown), b ca 1829 in
Illinois. The couple and two of their children migrated to Falls County, Texas
about 1855, settling in the Blevins area on Deer Creek. Their last three
children were born in Falls County. Reverend Taylor donated the land for the
school, church, and cemetery at Blevins. Reverend Taylor preached in the
Methodist Church, and organized the Taylor School, where he probably taught in
the 1870's. He also was a farmer. Marriage Records reveal that he performed many
of the weddings in the Blevins area of the county.
When Captain Thomas H. Barron died in 1874, Isaac Taylor was appointed
one of the Administrators of the estate, along with the widow, Mary Jane (Shelton) Barron. The estate
was so involved -
with eighteen children from two marriages - that Reverend Taylor relinquished
the administration after several years of non-settlement.
Reverend Isaac Taylor and Jane had five children before her death:
William S. Taylor, b ca 1851 in Illinois - was not married in 1870. No
further information.
Warren D. Taylor, b ca 1854 in Illinois. No further information.
Susan Taylor, b ca 1857 in Texas.
Isaac Taylor, II, b 1859 in Texas.
Joseph Taylor, b 1861 in Texas.
After the death of Jane, Reverend Taylor remained single for a few years;
and on October 13, 1868, he was married second to Amanda Frances Ruble, b 1838
in the area which became Grimes County - in The Republic of Texas, d January
1875 and buried in Blevins Cemetery - a daughter of Fielden and Frances
(Simmons) Ruble, who were married in 1833 at San Felipe - Austin's Colony, and
who received a grant from Robertson's Colony in December 1834, at Viesca.
Reverend Isaac and Amanda Frances (Ruble) Taylor had three children before her
death:
Mary Taylor, b 1869 in Falls County, Texas - died young.
Benjamin Louis Landrum Taylor, b February 24, 1871 at Blevins, Falls
County, Texas, d September 24, 1931 in Marlin, Falls County, Texas and buried
there in Calvary Cemetery
-
married Cora Ella Bowers of Bell County, Texas.
A. Dona Taylor (believed to be Amanda Dona Taylor), b 1873 in Falls
County, Texas - married A. M. Stone. An infant son Stone was born and died July
28, 1905, and buried in Blevins Cemetery near his maternal
grandmother, Amanda (Ruble) Taylor, and her parents.
After the death of his second wife, Reverend Taylor married third to Mrs.
Sarah Carmencita (Ruble) Bowman - a distant relation of Amanda Frances (Ruble)
Taylor. He was still alive in 1895, when his son, Benjamin Louis Landrum Taylor,
was managing the Taylor farm.
