JOHANN GEORGE STOCK

 


     Johann George Stock (called "George"), b January 14, 1832 in Bavaria, d July 30, 1912 and buried in St. Joseph's Cemetery at Cyclone, Bell County, Texas came to Colorado County, Texas in 1854, where he married in 1874 to a widow, Theresia (Roeber) Frick, who had two daughters, Rose and Franziska Frick, by her first marriage. Theresia was born June 3, 1848, d November 15, 1919, and also buried at Cyclone.
     George bought land in Colorado County, and it was there the family lived and had three identified children. In 1892, George received his naturalization papers in Colorado County - sold his land in Colorado County in 1895, and moved to Barclay, Falls County, Texas. George and his son traveled by wagon, and Theresia and the daughters traveled by train. The three identified children of Johann George and Theresia (Roeber) Stock were:
      Anna Stock, b ca 1876 in Colorado County, Texas - no further information.
     John Stock, b December 14, 1879 in Colorado County, Texas, d July 29, 1956 at Barclay, Falls County, Texas - married Kate Pieper, b August 29, 1882, d March 21, 1964 at Barclay - a daughter of
Paul and Katherine (or Catherine Wendel) Pieper. John and "Kate" Stock farmed in Barclay all their married lives. Kate was a member of the Ruth Circle and Ladies Aid of the Salem Lutheran Church at Terry's Chapel. They were the parents of seven known children, who still own land at Barclay, where several grandsons are farmers: Raymond Stock, Cathleen Stock, John Stock, Pauline Stock, Clarence Stock, George Stock, and Melvin Stock. John and Kate were active in all community and school affairs at Barclay.
     Tillie (Stock) Bernhausen, b 1890 in Colorado County, Texas - no further information.
