JOSEPH MARK STALLWORTH

 

 

 

Joseph Mark Stallworth, b ca 1820 in South Carolina, d 1866 in Falls County, Texas at Wilderville was a son of William and Sarah (Travis) Stallworth of South Carolina. "Mark" was married in Alabama ca 1844 to Ann M. Henson, b ca 1827 in North Carolina, died in Falls County. The couple left Alabama about 1849 for Morehouse Parish, Louisiana, where they lived before emigrating to Falls County, Texas at the end of the Civil War. They were the parents of nine children:

William Thomas Stallworth, b June 20, 1845 in Alabama, d November 17, 1897 and buried in Woodland Cemetery in Rosebud, Falls County, Texas married June 18, 1868 in Milam County to Fredonia Agnes Segrest.

Robert L. Stallworth, b 1847 in Alabama ‑ married Mary ("Mollie") French.

Flora Ann Stallworth, b March 1849 in Alabama ‑married William Scarborough.

Mary Elizabeth Stallworth, b July 1850 in Morehouse Parish, Louisiana ‑ never married.

Joseph Stallworth, b 1852 in Morehouse Parish, Louisiana ‑ was never married.

John Richard Stallworth, b 1854 in Morehouse Parish, Louisiana ‑ married Bettie Green.

Frank E. Stallworth, b 1856 in Morehouse Parish, Louisiana ‑ married Addie Childers ‑ a daughter of Robert and Mary (Mullins) Childers.

Martha Louise Stallworth, b 1857 in Morehouse Parish, Louisiana‑married John P. Segrest.

Sarah ("Sallie") Stallworth, b 1859 in Morehouse Parish, Louisiana. No further information.

Joseph Mark Stallworth was registered as a Mason, "deceased," on the 1867 Masonic Rolls. His estate was not settled for several years, due to his having borrowed to make his cotton crop, which was allowed to be damaged after his death. Finally, his daughter, Flora, and her husband, William Scarborough, concluded the litigations.
