JACK WILSON SMITH
Jack Wilson Smith, b August 29, 1943 in Sherman,
Texas, where his father was stationed during World War II ‑ was the second son
of Dr. Walter Scott and Mary Elizabeth (Wilson) Smith, Jr., and a brother of
Federal Judge Walter Scott Smith, III ‑ formerly of Marlin, and now a resident
of Waco, Texas. He was named for his mother's only brother, Jack Wilson, who
died while a student in The University of Texas at Austin.
On December 3, 1966, Jack was married to Vicki Lynn
Sheehy, b January 6, 1947 in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas ‑ a daughter of
John Francis and Mary Frances (Barnwell) Sheehy.
Jack
served in the U.S. Army, and the young couple lived in many different locations.
He was stationed in Fort Hood, Texas when his first daughter was born, and then
served in Viet Nam, and his wife and eldest
daughter lived for a time in Waco, and then settled in Marlin, where all the
family have continued to reside. The three daughters of Jack Wilson and Vicki
Lynn (Sheehy) Smith are:
Sarah Catherine Smith, b January 22, 1971, is a
Marlin High School student, and is very active in youth activities of First
Presbyterian Church of Marlin.
Mary
Claire Smith, b January 1, 1974 is a fine scholar, and is also active in youth
activities of First Presbyterian Church of Marlin.
Lauren Elizabeth Smith, February 9, 1975, also
maintains a high scholastic record in school, and participates in all the youth
activities in First Presbyterian Church of Marlin.
Jack
Wilson Smith works in advertising, makes commercials for television, was a
co‑host of P.M. Magazine ‑ while the local program originated in Waco, Texas,
and has many such interests and activities. He is a chairman of the Republican
Party in Falls County, an Elder in First Presbyterian Church of Marlin, and is
often called upon to be "Master of Ceremonies" at different events. Jack and
Vicki established Heritage, Inc. in Marlin ‑ a candle factory, and she also is
employed by Brazos Insurance Company in Marlin. Vicki's father established a law
practice in Waco, Texas, and served as a pilot in both, World War II and the
Korean War. His father served in the military in World War I.
Jack Wilson and Vicki Lynn (Sheehy) Smith reside in
the in which he was reared.
