ISAAC SMITH
Isaac Smith, b July 22, 1862 in Texas, d January 13,
1942 at his in the Stranger‑Blue Ridge area of Falls County, Texas and
buried in Blue Ridge Cemetery ‑ was the third of eight children of Robert and
Luticia (Millican) Smith.
Isaac received his education at Tehuacana, returning
to the family in 1881, where he assumed the management of his father's
farm. In 1890, he bought a farm at Hog Island, and owned 446 acres of land.
In
December 1889, Isaac Smith was married to Anna Mae Swinnea, b November 2, 1864
in Tennessee, d April 4, 1952 and buried in Stranger Cemetery at Stranger, Falls
County, Texas ‑ a daughter of James Richard and Susan (Holloway) Swinnea,
natives of Giles County, Tennessee, who settled in the Stranger Community.
Isaac and Anna were the parents of six children:
James Floyd Smith, b October 1890; Myrtle Elizabeth Smith, b July 1892 ‑ who married Jerome Murphy; Robert Lee Smith, b December 1894, d 1984 in Houston, Texas; Reverend Thomas Miller Smith, b July 1898, d 1975 in Marlin and buried in Calvary Cemetery ‑ was a Methodist minister, who married Ina McCoy ‑ a daughter of James Leland and Margaret (Hufstetler) McCoy; Richard Scott Smith, b February 13, 1901, d January 30, 1978 and buried in Stranger Cemetery; and Roy Smith, b ca 1903, who married Ruth Ringstaff.
Although Isaac Smith's parents had been of the Cumberland Presbyterian faith,
his wife was Methodist, and they reared their family as Methodists, with
membership in the Methodist‑Presbyterian Union Church at Stranger.
